Learn all you need to know to start painting whimsical watercolour illustrations in a weekend.
Perfect for beginners
In this in-person weekend class, we’ll meet in a small group of five students for a fun 3.5-hour class to learn the basics PLUS creative ways to express yourself with watercolour!
You’ll learn wet-on-wet and dry techniques and get a better understanding of the materials (such as different brushes and papers). You’ll also get an intro to the colour wheel, colour mixing, contrast, values and working with a limited palette.
By the end of the course, you’ll have several paintings of flowers using the different techniques, a personal colour palette and even a hand-painted quote.
And most of all you’ll surprise yourself when you see how much joy,
resilience and energy a little creative watercolour can bring!
What you’ll do:
experiment with different watercolour techniques
play with values and contrast
learn some basic colour theory
combine watercolour with other media
build your skills with simple but fun exercises anyone can do!

a better sense of how to combine and play with colour for expressive paintings
an A4 watercolour painting of flowers to send or frame
a sketchbook full of playful exercises and whimsical watercolour illustrations

Not at all! This class is perfect for beginners or people who’ve not done any drawing for a long time!

This is a class in basics - so if you already know you’re way around wet-on-wet and dry techniques - and paint regularly - this might not be the class for you! I have more advanced classes in the pipeline!
However, if you’ve never tried illustrating with watercolour - you might pick up a thing or two!

I prefer small groups of 4 to 5 people so that I have the time to meet you where you are and encourage you!

Afterwards, if life throws you lemons, we’ll work something out - I can book you in another class(es) or offer a 50% refund. -
No. I provide all of the materials so that we are all working with artist quality and lightfast paint, markers, etc. That way I know you’ll get the best possible result faster - which is super motivating!
You’ll leave with enough watercolour paint to continue working at home where you can also incorporate your favourite materials. -
